25 of these each time
I'm not kidding, I really only did 1, that's kind of sad! :(

Nate's Work Out

Nate added his weight, he said he'll always be able to lift more than me!!! WHATEVER!!!

Dylan's Work Out

Our Home Gym

We set this up tonight, it was already down there but not very organized. We got rid of a bunch of "junk" from the basement that the city will pick up on Wednesday, that was a work out in and of itself. Then we played around on the equipment and tried some stuff. Nate and I had fun with the camera and thought you might enjoy seeing them.

Looking into it

After getting to work the other day, one of my co-workers (whose daughter I had in K4) was asking me how we were doing it. She said she went to Weight Watchers and loved the points system. You can eat whatever you want but everything has points. You just have to stay within your points for that day. My sister-in-law did this program too and was really sucessful at it.

I got online and it checked it out, its not real expensive. Nate suggested I go to the meetings and then come home and share with him. That way we both can benefit, BUT we only pay one fee each month (sorry ww). I hope that we can be faithful to it. We will start to check it out next week. I am going to talk to my co-worker a little more and find out when she goes, I would love to be at a meeting when there is someone else that I know. PLUS, I am pretty sure you get some kind of credit for bringing friends.

We'll see. My biggest struggle is at night when I start craving sweets. I don't even want to eat, but can't help the feelings. I try drinking water, but it just doesn't seem to go away. We are organizing the basement today, maybe from now on when I get the craving I will go workout for 10 minutes. Focus on something else. I know that the program offers desserts that are low in points, maybe we will get those for just those type of times.

I don't know, just keep praying. I am so tired and don't have that much energy that is VERY hard to keep going. I WANT TO, just need that extra kick in the but to do it.

I AM EXHAUSTED!!!!

Day one back at work and I am worn out!!! It wasn't really that hard, just a long day and training is more mental than physical. I did walk to work today, I started to walk home but Nate picked me up and we went for supper. We ate salads and SUGAR FREE pudding, that was pointless, it was not good at all. Taught me my lesson.
I finally took the car ride from work home and it is exactly one mile from my work to my driveway. So when I walk to and from it will be 2 miles per day. It's a little warm, so depending on what time I leave for work (the earlier the better), I might have to switch it up. I don't think anyone at work wants me coming in smelling and sweaty. Everyone was great at work, and the best thing so far is that I get the employee discount in the cafeteria. I got a great salad for lunch today and a water, $1.28. I could hardly believe it, that's cheaper than what the kids pay for lunch at school. It was just enough to, I was content but not stuffed. That will be one of my biggest lessons I learn during this whole experience, stop when I'm full. I think we grow up being told "finish that food" or "you're not getting up until your plate is cleaned", no wonder my kids are like they are, we spent the first part of their life telling them that. No one ever taught me portion control, start small. No one EVER told me to stop when I was full. You learn what you live!
Thats it for tonight, this weekend we are going to work hard on the basement and get some stuff cleaned out. I am calling the Easley pick up next week to come get some big trash and that will clear out some major space. That will be a work out in and of itself.
Till then...

Way to go Kids!!!

I could not be more proud. They have spent a good portion of their time playing and I think that has made the difference. Bike Riding and Jumping Rope have made up Dylan's regiment and it really paid off. Maybe I will let him train me. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe because I started drinking so much water and my body wasn't use to that. IDK, I will keep working on it though, I'm not going to let this first weigh in get me so discouraged that I give up already. Nate left for work so early, he didn't weigh in before he left. I will edit his later.

weigh in's

New plan, we will be weighing ourselves daily and measuring ourselves on a monthly basis. A smart friend today gave me a piece of advice and that was that weighing daily can be a great source of encouragement. If we are losing it will help us to keep going, if we are gaining or staying the same, it will help us to work harder. So you will begin seeing our #'s tomorrow morning.

I walked to the hospital today and for those who know where we live, that doesn't seem that far. And it really isn't. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get to the hospital and then another 5-10 to get to the office where I will be working. The walk home was more of a challenge. I had never realized how much of an incline North A St is if you are coming from the hospital. PLUS the heat made it a little more difficult to deal with. I am a little sore this afternoon, but I also remember another wise friend telling me that pain is weakness leaving the body. That seems to be what I want to have in the forefront of my brain tonight. Now to tackle the basement. That will be tomorrows chore.

Till then...

Off to work we go!!!

Good morning everyone!
It is the first week into our adventure and we aren't doing horribly. Our eating habits have not been exactly perfect but we are not munching like we were. I learned a tip that I thought might be really helpful and I am going to try it. EVERY time I eat, I am going to brush my teeth. Now I know that sounds crazy, of course we brush our teeth, but I mean even after drinking something sweet or eating just a small snack. They say it's easier to turn down something when your teeth feel that clean and you have the taste of toothpaste in your mouth. We'll try and let you know.
We have been drinking much more water and have not had any pop except on Friday when we visited with some friends, and then it was only a small amount. I know that it's only been one week, and this is the first post. I apologize for that, I have been trying to upload the pictures on the side with our stat box and have really had a hard time. For some reason this morning, it was just as easy at it always should have been.
Kayla has been playing up a storm, she has some new friends in the neighborhood and that has caused her to love being outside. I think in her case, this will help her the most, just simply being more active than she has been. I have to remind her to come in every 30 minutes to get a drink of water because it has been ridiculously hot here.
Dylan figured out that he does not know how to jump rope. I don't know how that got past us, but we found out at his field day this year that it was a coordination skill that he never picked up on. So that is his goal this summer along with getting fit, to learn how to jump rope. He said he can't believe how much it really uses your whole body. He is timing himself and his goal is to hit at least 60 jumps per minute, 1 per second. He is at 23 right now. Not bad considering it he only got 8 per minute on field day. I'm just proud he is trying.
Nate is working like a dog, but tonight we are going to get in the basement and organize our equipment. We have lots down there, but aren't set up to make it effective. So our workout tonight will be cleaning it up and organizing it.
As for me. I am walking to work everyday now, starting today. I go in this morning to take blood work and get my physical. I only live 3-4 minutes from the hospital by car. I am going to walk it and see how far it is, I actually have a bill to go pay too and I will do it on the way home. So today's walk although I will measure it, will not be an accurate distance of what I will begin to walk everyday to and from work.
Gotta go get ready for now. I feel better knowing I got on here. Several of you have said you read this, I would love to hear your comments too. Be sure to leave a note. If you really don't want to that's fine too.
Till tomorrow!
Tanya

Starting Point

Hi everyone! This is very odd for me. I have never had the time nor the desire to do something like this, but this blog is about my family. It will include details about our desire to improve our lifestyle by changing how we eat, how we excercise and you will get to see it first hand.

We will start out by taking pictures of ourselves and giving stats about measurements and weight. This will be followed daily by posts on our activities that day and how we are doing with our progress towards this goal.

Monthly we will re-measure and re-weigh to see how we are doing. We will also set goals for ourselves because without a goal you have nothing to aim for and if you aim for nothing you will hit it everytime.

Nate and I have wanted to do this for a very long time but just never PURPOSED in our hearts to do it and actually we know in our heads that doing it together will be easier. The kids are not in need of this as much as Nate and I BUT it will not hurt them to learn better eating habits and the meaning of exercise at all. They are definitely a little "healthier" than they should be and hopefully this will help all of us in that area.

Please join us if you would like, we would love to hear how you are doing it and be there to encourage and support however we can. We are by no means experts on this, and the idea of "baring it all" on the Internet was the scariest thing ever. However, it gives us a major accountability factor and there is power in numbers.

Wish us success and we will send it back your way! I will have pictures posted by tonight of all us with our measurements so we will have our starting points.

Till then....
